TASF First Postal Match - April
TASF 1st April Postal Match
Setup: This postal match is based on the AAPS Speed Target drill. Three AAPS "A" paper targets are set up in-line, 18 to 24 inches apart (measured center-to-center), with the middle target centered 13 feet in front of the competitor. The center of each target is approximately four to five off the ground. A stop plate is positioned two feet in front of the right-most target with its center approximately two to three feet off the ground. Start: The competitor begins facing the targets in surrender position. The pistol is unloaded in battery on the ground 1 foot in front of the shooter. Mag loaded 6 inches to the left (or right) of pistol. On the start signal, the competitor drops to one knee picks up the pistol and mag, load and make ready. Fires two shots, in the 1 knee kneeling position, into the “A/C” zone of each target, engaging targets in any order. The competitor then stands up and fires two more shots into the “A/C” zone of each target and then shoots the stop plate (13 shots altogether). The score for this drill is the time (in seconds to the nearest 0.01 second). Any shots that land outside the “A/C” zone of any target, failure to fire two shots at a target during each sequence, or firing more than two shots at a target during each sequence, results in a "no score" for the drill. There is no limit to the number of shots that can be made on the stop plate.

RE: TASF First Postal Match - April
Sounds good. I was practicing tonight. I don't know if I want to lay my open gun on the ground....not with the optic mounted. I like the zero on it right now.
Also are we keeping track of scores for multiple guns, or just the lowest et for each class?

RE: TASF First Postal Match - April
Your zero is going to get messed up by laying the gun on the ground?! Dude, time for a new optic. If it's mounted right, having it on the ground won't mess it up. If it worries you that much, lay it on a piece of carpet or something.
I gave it a trial run earlier, boy do I need practice! |

RE: TASF First Postal Match - April
Not worries about the ground messing up the sight, just me impacting the ground with the optic.
Also at these size targets, open sights are faster for me.

RE: TASF First Postal Match - April
You can shoot with more than one gun, but only 1score will be counted per division. Since we are not handing out prizes to the winners we will keep the 2 divisions seperate. Example: If you have a few standard guns and shoot them all, only the one best score will be recorded. Please submit your times as soon as you can so we can keep up to date and others can see who's shooting what.
HKS - dude you're the one that lays his guns on a little concrete slab to take pics. I've always wondered if you've accidently scratched up you guns laying them on that. But that does bring up a good point. You can use something (like a piece of carpet) to lay your gun down on. Since we are not "scoring" hits, it is pretty easy to stay within the A and C zone without "aiming". You can pretty much just point and shoot. So, you are correct you probably will be faster with iron sights (or a fiber optic sights). Though, when scoring matters and you need to be in the A zone, redots are way better. RE: TASF First Postal Match - April
Quick question....I couldn't find the answer in the AAPS rules. Is there a restriction against using knee pads during the match? My knees don't like dropping onto concrete so much.

RE: TASF First Postal Match - April
I dont see any reason why you can't wear knee pads.
