So other than this postal you can do at home with people online, are there any practical shooting events happening locally for you? We know that Sale being where he is has a deep involvement and experience with IPSC(in Hong Kong of course). But what about others in US or otherwise?

I just went to a Airsoft IPSC beginner primer, which was the 2nd class ever locally in Toronto(for Airsoft anyhow, real steel pistol IPSC does exist and is apparently quite developed in Canada, and our instructor's background is in real steel). The idea is that with enough interest(and each class I believe has had 10 people(to capacity) and another 4-5 spectating), we can develop a healthy community for the sport, and perhaps we can run actual comp locally in the future.

The facility owner thinks that it fits into their place nicely as the place is used as a form of martial arts training center and also holds various airsoft-milsim CQB style operator training courses with real world emphasis. And IPSC even in airsoft form steps beyond that "sim" thing and is an actual sport in itself. With the people I saw I think there is a good chance for the sport to stay here...
Not really a "scene" so to speak, but my buddy and I get together and do some practical shooting.
The local airsoft field where I play at least twice a month has a couple games a year where you start out with just pistols or springer rifles. You can earn points to "buy" your AEG from the local warload. Otherwise, I try to use my pistols for a bit in every skirmish. Also, the same field had a pistol competition last year, and should be doing another one this year. That's it here other than the postal matches I am starting to do.
Some pictures from last weekend's "5.11 Challenge", cunningly on May 11th. Grin02 You get a good idea of the stages from these. I finished fourth in Production, and will link to my team's videos when I get them myself and uploaded somewhere.

Hmm, now that I looked at those PDF files showing stage results, it seems that I won stages 1, 4 and 5. Stages four and five with a good gap of almost 10% to the second one, too. Happy happy joy joy!

Awesome, thanks for sharing Sale. I'd like us to do a sitting postal match, or at least have part of the match with a table/sitting start. I'm so jealous looking at all the fun you guys have over there!
If it's any consolation, I'm jealous of you guys having the theoretic possibility of shooting real guns in the US.

We had five new shooters practicing with us last night (Wednesday practice), so we didn't have time to shoot the May postal match this time. But I'll get the team to shoot it next week. Getting new shooters in and showing them how exciting the sport is is key. Three out of five shooters didn't have guns or gear of their own, but were using "loaners".

To make the beginning easy for new shooters, get guns and holsters you can hand out for them to try. There will be people who try it for a couple of times and quit, but there will be people who will get hooked for sure. They will buy their own gear and guns. Boom, you got a new shooter.

You could recruit skirmishers from the local field. Talk with the site owner if he's okay with setting up a simple stage. If you're confident, you can buy a coke or something to anyone who shoots down the poppers faster than you do. The human mind is very competitive.

---That is the plan.

Nice shooting Sale - Tim (dunno his real name) from TopAction has you tube video of that 5.11 match. http://www.youtube.com/user/safetytim
I think he shoots production with you right?
We were in the same squad with them in the 5.11 Challenge Round 2, so I have pictures of them shooting as well. They have shooters in all divisions. I don't know who of them would be Tim, since they use their Chinese names mostly.
