well, the comp I got from airsoft GI back @ 2006, it's pretty old, and the slide is a old magna "limcat" slide, which I got back @ 2005 from my supplier

Here's my problem with the build, the slide and frame gap is way too big...
lots of wobbles that i hate

oh old memories...
Well, Clarence Lai finally responded to my email. He is quoting over $3,000.00 to build the gun I want. He doesn't seem like he is eager to build it for me though. He is focused on new parts and design. He says "Coming soon, I have a lot of custom frame and open gun slide
set, and parts too, so maybe you can think about just buy the parts and build
yourself."
well, maybe you should wait a while to see what he have to offer
Redwolf have lots of CL customs slides in, go check it out:

Thanks for the link.
It's cool that he's provided a bunch more options and colors..but still the same kind of stuff...but no straight cut slides for ldc Aiwebs_003
I was thinking he might come out with some compensated top end kits...oh well. Still cool and excellent for mass production and sales. I wonder why he
chose a cheaper aluminum and priced them higher than what's already available.
I still want something much more custom. But now I know why he said it would take a while to build a custom gun. Can stop production on the CNC machines for too long.
I feel the exact same way you do 4th. I was hoping for some ldc slides. When you said he was coming out with new slides I pictured crazy compensated type slides like the tigercat and a split slide dragon style. All of those slides look like slides that are already out.
I just finished helping a friend restyle his Hi-Capa 4.3 into a 1911. I had a whole pile of 4.3 parts left over and yesterday got the urge to build something out of them. I decided that I wasn't using my STI Hybrid enough so I stripped it down to use as a base gun for this project. I am currently selling the slide and may be putting other parts of it up for sale as well.

Anyway, this is my attempt at a 4.3 race gun and so far I have been very pleased with how it has handled. I am currently running a plastic 4.3 slide with an SD steel outer barrel combo. The slide has been short stroked and I am using a stock 5.1 recoil spring to give everything a bit more snap. I have thrown on a number of other cosmetic parts that I have lying around as well and I'm surprised at how well everything seems to fit.

Shooting this gun is tons of fun. Double taps are crazy fast and the gun is small enough that it is easy to maneuver it from target to target. Thanks to the stock slide and short stroke I'm really not having much trouble with recoil knocking the gun off target. I think that I will probably start using this gun for postals once I get the final kinks worked out of it.

How do you paint the grips like that? Airbrushed, brush splatter, masking...or all three?
