This is the thread to discuss optics and sights for your pistols.

I'm thinking about turning my Limcat into an open gun, and using a G&P Aimpoint. I just can't decide if it is worth it to save up the extra cash ($50 vs. $200+) for a CMORE.
I switched to a C-More Serendipity for more than a few reasons:
#1: C-More has a better field of view.
#2: C-More has an excellent dot with interchangeable MOA modules (Aimpoint dots are nice but not worth $450 plus another $50-100 for a mount).
#3: Mounting - It is easier to mount than a one sided mount. And being double sided makes it that much more sturdy.
#4: Low profile and much lighter than any other set up.

Don't get me wrong, I like tube scopes, and I actually think they look better than C-Mores. There are decent replica Aimpoints that will work just fine for APS. There are also other red dot optic options such as Doctors and other replicas - which are also easier to mount (ie. no drilling and tapping needed).

Thanks for the info 4th! I think I'll go with the route I've been thinking about (AS mount and tube) as I just can't justify forking over the extra clams for a cmore. Maybe I'll get lucky find a good deal on an Aimpoint 3000.
I'm currently using a RS ATN Reflex Sight with a SD optic mount. I have been very pleased with the setup so far.

The SD optic mount is great since it uses the rail knockouts in the Hi-Capa 5.1 frame to mount to the gun. This means that there is no drilling, taping, etc. required. It takes about a minute to install or remove (field strip the gun and then put in/take out two screws. Rock solid to boot.

The ATN is a very solid sight (I haven't really gotten to compare it to anything else though) and has 11 brightness settings as well as four different (MOA modules?)(different dot thingies). I guess that I need to do a bit of reading to get my terms straight.

I'm running a G&P AP on my HiCapa, and I like it. I've got a similar sight to the ATN (much cheaper), on my 1911, and I do like the field of view better than the AP. I think the AP looks nicer than a railed mount + mounted optic, but I love the aesthetics of the serendipity. For what we're doing, they're going to perform similarly.

White Dingo thanks for coming over here man! You experience and input is great to have here!

Just FYI - Shooters Design makes Hi-capa Railed Scope mounts (which most people know).. NineBall also makes them. G&P makes a one sided railed mount (but has to be drilled and tapped) but the cheapest you can get. And pretty much all real steel optic mounts will work as well (mine and WhiteDingos are examples with real steel components)

I believe so. Yes.
I LOVE my Aimpoint 3000. I was lucky enough to snag this from my father who had it mounted on a RS .44 magnum revolver.

I do like the C-More quite a bit as well. I think it is one of the coolest looking optics available and it's field of vision and weight are two huge benefits. If I had to actually buy my own optic it would be a C-More.
