For some reason I never new about this AAPS. Not that it would have mattered where I live. Not enough people remotely interested in PS to keep anything going.
In case any of you are interested in TAPSS... and if you didn't aready know, I moved my airsoft and TAPSS website to here:
http://airsoft.caelyntek.com/
I won't say I'll be around the forum much... but if any of you were tp successfully get something going in my area, (Cincinnati) you might draw me back in.
Hey BP! Welcome to Traders.
You should post some of your vid links up as well BP. Do you still retain that warehouse/area to shoot in? Looks like a good envirnoment.
BP - Thanks for dropping in.
I want what you want...to actually have venues and real competitions for people to get together and shoot. But just as you stated, there aren't a lot of people everywhere out there to do this. So, we figured postal matches are the yway to go and hopefully build this sport to the point where there can be meets and real competitions.

What exactly does "postal match" mean? I've never heard that term until I saw the AAPS website...
Postal matches are a nationwide single event following specific guidelines for the match. People would shoot at their own time and place and submit their "score". I've posted a thread with some information and links. I've started and been shooting with AAPS since they've begun their postal matches. They have the best information as to what we are doing with practical shooting at the moment. There is a ton of info and a good forum over at AAPS..... but they put some restrictions in place that don't allow people under 18 to compete. Since I've found there are quite a few people interested in practical shooting, but too young, or not enough gear to compete with AAPS, we wanted to have something that can conform to the needs of these younger indiviuals and to those without complete "set ups".

One of the annoying things I've faced in all my research into PS is that many real steel practical shooters despise airsoft practical shooters and treat them with an air of elitism... and that those that are really into airsoft practical shooting (and have fully customized rigs and such) in various parts of the world have inherited that elitist mentality from the real steel world. Where they will go out of their way to make sure you cant compete unless you've spent as much money as they have on your rigs.
This is why in my system I made it quite clear that you DIDN"T have to have a full rig, as long as you had a holster and a mag pouch.
Didn't help much though.
BP - This is exactly why we are trying to get this started SIMPLY.... we are trying to account for people that DO NOT have full rigs, or even mag pouchs or holsters....or an extra mag for that matter.
I want to have people be able to compete with just a gun, 1 mag, and some sort of timing method (preferably a real stop timer).
I know what you mean about real steel guys. I've seen negativity from all sorts of different people though...but I've also have seen people praise airsoft practical shooting and the ones that have were actually real steel IPSC shooters that practice with airsoft guns. Look around on AAPS and you'll see.

On that note, for those who REALLY don't want to spend money on an expensive timing system... the way I used to time my original TAPSS events was with a chronograph watch with big buttons. But it only works I guess in the original TAPSS system where the time stops onces you've holstered your pistol. The shooter wears the watch, with his arms up, and the judge starts the timer on the watch. once the start beep is heard the judge steps away and the shooter starts his run. Once the shooter hits the last target in the course, he holsters his gun then stops the timer on his wrist.
I used that system back before the Red Bull stop plate came out.
That's not a bad system, but if one doesnt have a MadBull stop timer, but one does have another person available, that other person can use any form of a stop watch.
The point we are trying to get to is to have everyone timing method accurate as possible and the same.
I'm gonna see if it's possible to sponsor a group buy for Mad Bull stop times.
