We will begin running IPSC AAPS style postal matches here shortly.

Big thanks to Colin for getting this section up for us!

FYI:
Airsoft Practical Shooting is just a baby in the US. HK has been doing this for years. The only real organization/federation for APS in the US right now is AAPS. Since APS is just starting out in the US, there aren't any real competitions or venues to shoot. So to compete, we are using an old style of competition called the POSTAL MATCH.

An explanation of postal match competition can be found on AAPS website here.
(please feel free to join, compete, and post scores at AAPS as well as here)

We would like to hold our own Postal Matches here to allow for more variation and people under 18 yoa to compete.

If you are interested in competing, please familiarize yourself with AAPS' format as we will be retaining most of their rules and guidelines.
There may be modifications to their rules which we will outline before each match. We are also very open to suggestions to make things easier for everyone here to be able to compete.
I'm happy to see that you gents have picked up the ball on this. I intend to start shooting these starting in June and with any luck I will be able to get a local friend or two to join in. I think that this is the perfect sport to keep a chairsofter from getting too 'soft'.

I have one accessibility point that I think might bear some discussion. This is having to have multiple mags for the reloading during shooting. It seems like there are many people who would like to try this but only have one mag for their gun (I'll be in this position if my attempt to get a gun in Taiwan succeeds). Is there some way that we could define a one mag mag change? For example, the shooter lets the mag drop free onto/into a table/box and then must pick the mag up and load it back into the gun. This would be much slower than reloading with a second mag so it seems like it has its own handycap already built in.

Just to clarify, I am not really begging for this to happen but it seemed like an interesting idea that could spark some discussion to get things started.

I also have some thoughts about a cheap and accurate timing method that I will post later on in its own topic when I have a minute.
That is a good point Romulus.

Perhaps we can come up with some means of a "fake" mag change for those with only one mag available.

Some postal matches, such as the March postal, did not even incorporate a mag change. The4thPower3 and I both feel that a mag change is a big part in IPSC shooting and should be incorporated.

What do you think 4thPower? How can we do a one-mag mag-change?
I think that we should start slow and easy out here just to get people shooting. Once we have enough people competing we can add mag changes. I think for now we can shoot without having mag changes.

We can make things more interesting by starting with a mag out of the gun on a table or floor and the gun on the table or floor for people without holsters.

I don't think a one-mag mag change will work very well. So we could eliminate mag changes for our matches here for a while.
Without mag changes maybe it'll be less of a handicap for me without a magwell and TK Tac grip...Aiwebs_011

I'll be in to bring up the rear as usual...lol
Awesome! Great to see you guys over here Grin02
Glad to see the postal matches over here too. Hopefully it will be more popular and have more people shooting over here.
I can't wait for the first match!
First off, thanks for the invite over here, 4thpower.

As for the mag change, maybe just add a certain amount of time(few seconds, average for a mag change) to the final time.
