I just went back to one of the items that I posted in Bartertown just over an hour ago, and when I tried to edit it, the server told me that you can only edit the post within a one hour time frame.

I think that this is generally too short of a time allowance on any forum, but especially in a trading forum. I think that all sellers should be able to edit their item details indefinitely.

Just a suggestion.....thanks!
We've had a couple of discussions about this, and because the editing feature is a permission assigned to user groups, and not forums, it has to be adjusted differently. I want to ensure some accountability with postings, to time-limiting threads is useful for that reason alone. There's also no reason why you can't add to your existing thread via a post, to clear up any issues that you discover after the original posting was made. A lot of the decision to limit editing times, was solely to make posters accountable for their content, and to take responsibility for what they post.
I see the methodology behind it........understandable I guess.

The only problem is that sometimes people don't read further down the page, than the initial post.....so sometimes they miss updates and corrections. I'm guilty of that myself sometimes.
Nothing is totally set in stone yet, so don't worry.
i agree that there should be a time limit for editing posts just for accountability. lets say you buy something from some guy and later he takes it out of his post because it 'sold' but then says he was never selling it and wont give you your money or the item, you'd be pretty SOL
Excellent illustration of the point I was trying to raise. Thanks.
