The Speakeasy is so underused...

Let's discuss No Country for Old Men, the new film by the Coen brothers, trailer can be seen here (Quicktime req).

Okay, so I saw this last week and I have to say I was blown away. Fargo and Raising Arizona were always just meh for me, I love O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and I have *gasp* never seen The Big Lebowski. But I don't care, because I doubt it can beat this film, which is thusfar the best (albeit most violent) of the Coen bros, in my opinion.

If you haven't seen it, go see it. The plot is fairly simple but it's impossible to say that the movie is "about" something; it explores multiple themes and human conflicts.

Anyway, if you have seen it, what did you think? I'd like to know. I really think that thusfar this is the only movie that could take the Oscar for Best Picture.
I kinda would like a clarification, is this movie a good shoot em up? or a good shoot em up with some other values than mindless violence?
WARNING - Semi-Spoilers, but nothing big

It's not at all a shoot 'em up, but it does have gun violence. Basically there is a scene in which the protagonist stumbles upon a drug deal gone wrong, and there are a bunch of bodies lying around with automatic weapons and shell casings covering the ground, but you never actually see the shootout. Also the psychopathic killer (played by Javier Bardem, who, by the way, is right up there with Anthony Hopkins and Malcolm McDowell when it comes to playing one of the scariest psycho murderers of all time) regularly executes people with a hydraulic cattle gun and a suppressed shotgun. Also there is one quick gunfight between the protagonist and Bardem. Although it has a fair amount of death, the movie doesn't get the label of "shoot 'em up" in my book, and it's not remotely close to being mindlessly violent, imo.

edit
I should also add that this is the ONLY movie in which I've found Tommy Lee Jones' acting to be good, really good. The last five minutes of the thing are awesome, what happens to each character is great.
I was a little disappointed by the ending. Otherwise, a great movie.
Like Fargo, I have a feeling that this movie is something that people will either love or not really care for. I thought the ending was perfect...

SPOILERS

The protagonist being killed and Bardem surviving, but injured, so maybe not safe for long, kind of left hanging, I liked
that. Also Jones' little soliloquy at the end was amazing, and the abrupt ending was exactly how it should've ended, IMO.

/SPOILERS
Ummm not alot of gunfights????????????? Cause i thought there would be plenty of shoting when i saw the trailer.
There are a bunch of ruthless executions where one guy has a gun/guns. Gunfights require more than one person to have a gun. But there is one decently long gunfight between the two dudes near the end of the film.
no gun porn.... I'm not interested.
wow, this was not a gun porno, but it was still one of the best movies i have seen in a while.... Render i agreea with waht you ahve said, the ending was abrupt and perfect. this movie was an A+ for me
I wanted to see some gun porn big fire fights and gun battles.
