I'm starting on the expensive path of upgrading my WA and I need a little help on the outer barrel and chamber. To start off I have a
WA Infinity 6.0 Standard. From what I've read on posts describing the various WA systems, this is a Magna R-type lower and BBU (firing pin, shape of BBU etc.) but with an SCW3 style barrel assembley (fixed hop). I noticed on DenTrinity they list outer barrels and chambers as either SCW or R-Type, are the threads different for each type? Also can I mix manufacturers in respect to these two parts ie. a Guarder SCW chamber with a Shooter's Design SCW outer barrel? I'm assuming the thread is the same assuming they make the chambers compatible with the stock outer barrel which is aluminum already.
WA stock plastic chamber - Magna mikes out at 12.75x1mm
WA stock plastic chamber - SCW @ 12.6x1mm
I took it to the engineering firm next door, they confirmed that in their view both would be classed as 13x1mm. They say that it's the plastic moulding and plating process giving weird results.
The newer metal WA SCW chambers are the same nominal 13x1mm, I have found these pretty much drop in.
Shooters Design chambers have always fitted WA threads without a problem, the same cannot always be said fitting them to a metal slide
There was terrible trouble with Guarder barrels and threads not matching stock WA parts a while ago! They fitted the Guarder outer barrels without a problem of course.
Yours will be SCW, even though technically the thread is the same, the SCW chambers have a flat cut underneath for spring buffered guide rods and raised locking lugs to prevent scuffing to the chamber cover during cycling.
