its just not worth the effort. you cant take enough weight/ material to make a noticeble difference.

Take chunks out of a slide might help more...

Well, he was gonna use a plastic slide.
So, slide lightening is not going to make a big difference either.

I lightened a couple and was only able to take about 8 grams off. It's possible, to take another 3-5 grams off it.
Stock weighed in at 40.70g bare.
My stock "lightened" came in at 32.90g bare.
Aluminum A/S..PG4 weighs 23 grams with the piston head on it (I don't have a bare one to weigh atm, my guess is 19grams or less).
NineBall Plastic weighs 6.65g bare.
^ hence the reason Japanese use plastic.
