Guys,

I bumped into this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhgy5fcQs4k

I was particularly impressed with the difference between the stock 'engine' and modified engine, the red dot seems to be staying put. I have a WE Dragon 7" thats mounted with the Aimpoint Micro T-1 (replica), the red dot is jumping all over when I fire it.

I'd really like to build a high quality race gun using the TM 5.1, from the videa it looks like the 'lighter' BBU and piston made from plastic is the key.

My plan is as follows,

1. TM Hi-Capa 5.1
2. ProG4 TigerCat slide set (slide, comp, bush, guide rod, outer barrel)
3. AS BBU
4. PDI 6.01 Inner Barrel
5. NB Hop-up Bucking
6. AS Scope mount
7. Aimpoint 3000 (replica)
8. WE Magwell
9. Guarder 150% Recoil spring

With the above, will I be able to achieve similar results?

Thanks.

regards
I think those might be plastic slides which would explain the cycling speed and lack of kick. The bbu and piston are likely modified as well. A metal slide will slow the cycling speed down.
japanese build their steel challenge guns differently from everyone else. they build with plastic slides and bbu. they also run r134a gas. if you run plastic slide with green gas - eventually the slide will break.

no, your set up is nothing like japanese steel challenge guns. and will not perfom the same.
Guys,

Thanks for your input....looks like i'll need to dig a bit more.

1. TM Hi-Capa 5.1
2. NB Plastic Lightened Slide
3. NB Plastic BBU
4. NB 6.03 Non-Hop up Inner Barrel / Chamber
5. NB Lightened Aluminium Bush
6. NB Lightened Guide Rod
7. Aimpoint 3000 (replica)

I guess the above should get me closer, but where is the best place to get Nineball stuff?

regards
Looking at the first gun in the video, it seems like he's using a SD compensator, which means that it's likely he's using a comp-ready barrel from SD as well. I have both of these and it is a tilt barrel. However in the video the barrel doesn't move at all, which means he's using a non-tilt/fixed barrel.

What fixed barrel in the market can house a compensator? All the fixed barrel I see are normal 5.1 length. Some of the slide set for 4.3 comes with a fixed comp-ready barrel, but I can't find one separately for 5.1.

What if I shave off the lugs from the slide so that it has clearance with the top of the outer barrel and thus won't pull it back during the cycle?
I forgot who it was, but someone here tried a nineball light plastic slide and cracked in 100 rounds or so.

I think ProG4 now probably cut their barrels to the non-tilting design.
