Full Version: I am looking forward to get an AEG

I was all GBB pistol guy, but 2 times on a field and I break. I want an AEG now. Not that pistol is bad - I was giving the other guy with AEG a hard time and shot him more times than he shot me - but 27 round in my Desert Eagle is pretty low. I refuse buying several 40$ worth magazines + the gas is pretty expensive. So AEG is a MUST now.

Despite the fact I tuned several pistols, I have absolutely no clue about AEG. I am a total nub. I had Galaxy MP5K and a custom M4 once, but I sold them in about a week. Never took it apart or tried to learn how it works. So I hope those more experienced will help me with suggestions. Now, do not tell me - This gun is good for beginner. I do not want to break 2 crappy guns before getting a beast.

So here are my requests:

-Great reliability and quality (which brands are good, TM, ICS, VFC??)
-Big tuning potential (eventualy I would like to bring it up to 500FPS)
-I prefer M4 style
-Willing to pay up to 500$ for a base gun
-Blowback (I only want AEG blowback)

I was looking at some Tokyo Marui M4 Blowback AEG. Oppinions?

The TM models are the only blowback M-series models worth buying specifically for the blowback. It is the best without question; anyone who has held the different brands should agree. You can definitely feel the kick, and it's almost as much as the GBBRs.

That said, the CA models are decent, far below the TM of course. For the price, you might as well spring for the TM. The G&G models are actually Top Tech, and are poorly designed.

Wanting the blowback function really cuts down on your options, but the TM are internally compatible with upgrades to a point. The hopup, battery and mags must be the new versions to be used w/o modification.

Huh, I was just getting warmed up for Top Tech TR15 Raider-L. I will go to my local airsoft store to see what can they order and for what price. So you are saying that some upgrade parts for that particular TM AEG Blowback do not exist and older versions need to be modified? Is it that they are yet to be made or they wont be made at all.

Also does that TM Blowback M4 has version 2 gearbox? Isnt ver.3 better? And the one from Top Tech?
The overwhelming majority of M4 AEGs have standard V2 gearboxes. This is mostly due to the design being originally released in M4s. The G36 was released later, and sported the V3 gearbox, hence almost all G36s use V3 gearboxes.

The Top Tech gun itself is a decent performer with pretty good externals, it is simply that the blowback mechanism is inferior and causes more problems compared to the TM SOPMOD. If you're content with simply seeing the bolt cycle, and not feeling a thing, it will fit the bill.

The TM model has a new hopup system, and proprietary mags and battery. This will increase cost if you want to buy spares. The upgrades for the TM are also a double-edged sword since the majority of them will cause the motor to draw more of the battery's juice, and you can't simply upgrade the battery to something bigger; you must buy more.
Ok, what would be the best choice from the non-blowback AEGs? I might just check the armalite pictures thread to check what you guys have, but some recommendations are really welcome Aiwebs_011
With a 500$ upper limit, you've got your pick of any of the high end brands. Typical choices are G&P, King Arms, ICS, VFC, Star/Ares and TM. They each have their perks but they're all good choices. I exclude KWA, G&G and CA because they are all, to me, roughly the same quality, and do not surpass the ones I named in any overall category of internal or external quality, excluding TM's plastic body and plastic bushings. However, a stock TM will last darn near forever if you don't run hot batteries with it, and I don't doubt it outlasting any of the others.
Well I end up buying the gun from the link below. Daniel Denfense M4 Sniper Rifle. Any thoughts?
