Asked this on Arnie's but there might be legality issues since it's a UK forum, so I'll ask here.
Can real steel gas blocks be fitted on AEG's? Pretty sure the outer barrel diameter is exact, but I'm wondering about the gas tube diameter.
The gun would be a G&P M4/M16 variant, and the gas block either a Troy or Vltor low-profile gasblock.
Thanks!
I'm a grunt not an armorer, but...
I don't think so. The gas block is usually held on by pins that hold it to the barrel. Atleast thats how it has been on all the M16s M4s and AR15s I've ever held. you might have to modify the gas tube because a RS gas block actually has a function and may have a gas tube that goes into the barrel on the real rifle.
Heh, I've already bought a RS gas block, but I've yet to try it on a rifle. I'll find out soon enough if it works
Thanks anyway man.
let us know... im interested
I saw the block you posted in the aquisitions forum, I hope you can get her mounted with very little fuss. Good luck!
My rifle should be here by Saturday, so I'll know by then.
Good news! The gun came early, and the Troy gasblock fits perfectly.
Absolutely snug fit, no movement. So I guess this puts an end to this topic, at least for G&P AEG's and Troy gasblocks :P
