Nice. Got to love the 1911.

Those Springfield Armory grips look exactly like my Altamonts. I bet they are the same, but mine are export only. Good snag, the cross cannons look better than the SD ones.
Thanks hkssr20det, I love the look of them.

Hehe I was on the phone with a rep and browsing the site at the same time...just as she asked if I needed anything else I came across the sticker and I was like, "Noooyyyyeeeeahh...ehem...item number GE5163?" It makes my case complete...

Which brings me to more pics.

Sorry for the lowish grainy quality—indoors, low light, and I was in a rush.
Better photos in natural lighting.

PGC? Trades look really good.
Yep. They engrave their trades very well, quite deep. Plus I've never taken it to a skirmish.
Yeah, I baby mine. I just got a Guarder Springfield body and it is nice, but nowhere near as nice as PGC.
I think the Guarder is the best choice, tbh. It's nicer than a plastic body, yet it's not so expensive that you're afraid to skirmish with it. Mine is drifting into the "expensive paperweight" zone :P
Yeah, but my Guarder costs almost as much as my PGC. I do shoot mine though, the thing is solid. I wouldn't skirmish with it...
Looks pretty sweet Render. Nice work!

I had a PGC UNcompany custom TM 1911 a while back, but ended up selling it because several things just weren't 'doing it' for me with the gun. I'm SUPER picky with what I truly want in a 1911, so I figured it was better to sell off all my existing stuff, and REALLY focus on building the gun(s) I want.

I'm really not a fan of the A1, old skool sights. That was my biggest peeve. I really do not like them. After that, the spur hammer. Yuck. I'm also not a fan of the curved mainspring housing. I'll take mine flat please. The other thing that really irked me, was how LIGHT the gun felt when you took off the weighted grips, and put on real ones. I was just really disappointed in that. All of this has NO reflection on the superb quality of the PGC kit, which was phenomenal I must say, or the great performance of the gun. That thing was a damn nail driver!! All of my personal issues related to styling and 'realism'.

So, just as a little FYI, I did a LOT of research before deciding how to proceed.

I first decided to sell all the pistols in my collection. Not entirely fun, but this had a higher purpose. After owning so many pistols, I've decided that I'd rather have very few NICE guns that I used all the time, rather than a bunch that were partially upgraded, that I rarely used. Sampling so many also got me to really narrow my likes and dislikes in guns down as well. I've decided that the 1911 is my most favorite pistol design, followed by the 2011, and the Glock.

So, after successfully selling all my pistols, and yes, taking a good beating on prices, I'm at the reboot point.

My research did pay off though, and I'm now well into my first project pistol of my fresh start, and it's meeting ALL of the requirements I had for it;

* 1911 automatic
* 'Modern' style trigger (holed, etc.)
* Novak style sights
* Beavertail grip safety
* Ring hammer
* Ambidextrous safeties
* Capable of being upgraded to FULL metal (including chamber, etc)
* Retain REALISTIC weight, regardless of the removal of a part that could be upgraded (eg: GRIPS)

I did manage to find a pistol that met all of those requirements, and I'm happy to say the project is progressing nicely. It's taken a TON of e-mailing all over the place to find what I wanted, as well as picking the brains of a select few 1911 fans, but I think you'll agree the final product will have been worth it. Of course, it'll make it's grand entrance right here when I'm done. Well, maybe not completely 'done', but when the bulk of the upgrades have been completed.

Now, if I could just be so logical about all those damn AR's I've got.... *sighs*

OOooh I can't wait to see this project gun.

I know what you're saying about the Colt M1911-A1. It's very old school, the low sights make for difficult target acquisition, and the hammer is stupid; I like ring hammers more. I really don't think it's possible to have a perfect 1911 unless it's custom.
