For those members here who are from the P.I. And I thought airsoft practical shooting was only popular in Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.

As an aside. I really wish that people would stop referring to the Philippines as the P.I. If you are Filipino, P.I. is an abbreviation for a profane insult. The accepted and more polite abbreviation is R.P.; Republika ng Pilipinas. Yes, practical shooting took off in the Philippines, as many of the competitors are real steel IPSC, IDPA, and PPSA shooters. One match was held in Katips on Katipunan, a popular bar and grill.
Yup, it's legit. They even had the Clarence Lai cup last year. I think the venue is the same. It looks like a large warehouse that was split into multiple shooting stations. Check out this video.

Clarence Lai = Meh
Clarence Lai Cup = Super legit
Man that shit looks fun. I wish we had stuff like that in US on a regular basis.

Hey Twin cam, I never new about the profane insult thing because some Filipinos that I have met refer to their homeland by those initials. Thanks for the info and I apologize if I insulted anyone.
Anyway, how hard is it to get a real steel racegun (or any gun for that matter) in the Phillipines? And I'm talking about a legit/legal one.

Do you have to be rich and well connected?
I guess this was the tournament at Katips on Katipunan. Below is the flyer.

I just have to say, Oh god that is a sexy XD-40.
People that refer to the Philippines as PI likely grew up here in the US. No offense was taken, my ears just burn when I hear fellow Fil-Ams using the term. In the Philippines, if you have no criminal record or history of psychiatric illness and are of legal age, you may have one long gun and one pistol. The way around this is to be a registered collector or competitor and belong to a gun club. Prices are about the same as the US retail, sometimes higher up to 1.5x depending on markup. Ammo is expensive. CCW is available, but you must demonstrate need as related to your type of business. All transport of firearms outside your home is suspended during elections. ODOs may not carry their duty weapons without special permission/permits unless they belong to special plain clothes units. It appears Federal Agents are exempt from this. As with anything in the Philippines that the government can make money on, bureaucracy is a bitch. Even airsoft long guns have to be serialized and registered. This means when they decide to ban airsoft, they know where you live to make confiscation easy.
