Hey I am brand new to this forum, but I have written this up for ASF, and thought I might share it with you guys. Keep in mind this is also my first review.

H&K MP7, No Compromise!

by KWA

First thoughts

When I first heard about the KWA MP7, I had thought I should just go and get the KSC MP7. Trademarks... I did my homework and showed that the KSC has cylinder and nozzle failures regularly. Since there aren't many aftermarket parts for the newly released MP7s I decided to look at the KWA MP7, I had shot it and seen it and had to have it.

So today I present to you the KWA MP7

First impressions

After dishing out $237.88 at the Evike 8th Anniversary Sale I was presented with a box. It truely felt as if I was getting a Heckler and Koch weapon. The box you are presented with is plain and simple, and gets the point across. Trademarks intact and not cut out thanks to Umarex.

Inside the box is something we've all seen white Styrofoam, manuals, some BB's, Hopup adjustment, What I suspect to be 100% Silicone Oil, A 40 round Magazine and Of course, the weapon itself. Also there is a cut for a short mag which I suspect means that there will be short mags available for purchase soon.

The manuals include a KWA Warranty (Very nice as with most guns you usually don't get manufacturers warranty, and it explains the terms and conditions in CLEAR ENGLISH), The KWA MP7 Manual (Again, clear English, very nice and appealing to the eyes.), And a plain white registration card thanking you for buying a KWA Product.

Then we get to the gun itself.

Upon picking it up I realize this gun is much heftier than the TM MP7 that I used to own, and slap in the Magazine, you've got yourself one nice feeling PDW. This gun is solid, weighing in at about 5 Pounds.

Here are some things about the gun itself:

- The body is fiber reinforced polymer, and the internal structure is a full metal housing.

- Retractable stock. With the stock slided in the length is 384mm while with a extended stock its 595MM

- The long magazine is capable of holding 40 Rounds.

- Adjustable Hopup

- Full metal 20mm Picatinny Rails

- Functioning double trigger safety, along with functioning selector switch.

- 1:1 Scale, while the TM and Well is not, They slightly smaller than the real thing.

- Folding sights

- Folding front grip

- Clockwise threads, Not 14mm.

*The gun DOES come with an orange tip, but upon writing the review I had already removed mine. This can be done with Nail polish remover.*

Some things to appreciate are the trademarks, and while the Umarex licensing rights are there, they are much smaller than originally planned. Here is a comparison of the final product vs an image of where they would have been according to the manual included.

Now the moment you have all been anxious to see are the trademarks and how they were done on the KWA MP7.

Unlike the KWA AEG's and Pistols we are used to, there are no KWA Logos to speak of or that are present on the whole entire gun itself. Each KWA MP7 comes with a unique Serial Number, I have number 455 not bad, one of the first 500. The most disappointing part of the MP7 is the "cal. 6mm BB Energy > 1J" however, that is not a deal breaker for me. Also another thing to note which I find to be quite interesting is on the KSC the silver plate on the bottom faces the other direction.
A closer look at the KWA MP7

The gun itself has a functioning bolt catch and charging handle. When fired the Bolt slides back but the charging handle does not.

Upon emptying the magazine however the bolt stays back and prevents you from dry firing and wasting gas. Also if you pull the charging handle when the magazine is empty the charging handle will stay back, another neat function.

To close the bolt you release the bolt catch above the trigger area, and is ambidextrous.

The hopup adjustment is easy and outside the gun. You can do it with an allen wrench or the hop adjustment tool included. It's a bit confusing at first but to make it easier for me I put a little + and -. Right is up and left is down.

Performance and Technical Notes

Please excuse the 100' Test markings, I had written it up and realize I only had '75 to work with Aiwebs_011. (Also don't make fun of my grandmas backyard. =P)

Things that may have effected tests:
Reflex Sight tuned for .2's. Was aiming to the left.
Slight breeze coming from the left.
Weather (About 70 Degrees, no warming up mags in sun)
The blowback throws off aim shooting on auto, so it is logical that the spread would be larger.

75' Grouping Test on Semi Automatic w/ BB King .23

20/20 Hits. The spread is the same as a headsized target.

75' Grouping Test of Fully Automatic w/ BB King .23

17/20 Hits. The spread is a little tighter than Torso sized target.

Gas Efficiency on Semi Automatic non stop shots (Dry fire)

87 Rounds.

Gas Efficiency on Full Automatic non stop, 1 minute for reloading (Actual BB's)

77 Rounds.

Overall, I would say this is very impressive for such a small gun. Highly effective in CQB - Midrange situations and the mag, holds a LOT of gas. The most I have gotten out of a magazine in the time owning the gun is 116 Rounds.

With a bit of research and talking with our friend Allizard I had found out a couple of awesome things about the KWA MP7.

- The KWA MP7 has a reinforced Cylinder and Nozzle, making it much more suitable for Green Gas and Propane applications, this is desirable for people living in the US and even more so for Californians as it gets very hot here.

- The KWA MP7 is meant to be tuned and used with .25 BB's, and a lot of people like .28's. I've even heard reports of people using heavier weights such as .3's and .32's for a much straighter trajectory and overall accuracy.

- The Gas system is Force Velocity or [FV2]. Some like to call it the NS3.

- Barrel length is 220MM

- The gun itself has little to no kick, although you can feel the air from the bolt hit your face everytime you shoot it.

- VERY Loud

- 20 RPS

- 340 - 380 FPS (Highly dependant on weather)

Upon further research there is three versions of the MP7 each with a different FPS setting and different rocket valves and pistons.

KSC Japan - 330 fps
KSC Taiwan - 390-400 fps
KWA USA - 370+ fps

Post Skirmish Report.

11/10/09 Skirmish at Tac City (Airsoft Playground/CQB)

Alright so today I finally skirmished the KWA MP7. Let me say, this is such an AMAZING gun. This thing is shooting absolute lasers and is by far the most effective gun I have used in CQB. Outperformed and definitely met my expectations. I used every feature on this gun, the sliding stock, folding vertical grip and this gun is ridiculously maneuverable and easy to switch hands. With the reflex sight I was scoring a lot of headshots as well as some amazing semi automatic shots. I can only say one thing. I love this gun.

Conclusion

The ROF and FPS are Great, the accuracy and range is outstanding, pretty much everything I could hope for in a GBBSMG is in the KWA MP7

Realism : 4/5
Quality : 5/5
Power : 4.5/5
Accuracy : 4.5/5
Practicality: 5/5
Affordability: 3/5 (Not for the gun itself, but due to the heavy price of $50 per mag!)

Would I recommend this? Yes. After using this, shortly you realize you are going to need many magazines which is why I opted for 3 more. This gun can definitely compete with some of the AEG's on the field and no doubt any other GBBSMG On the market today.

This is my first review, questions, comments, and criticism on how I can make this one and next one better!

Thanks -- The Vainguard.

I just received my KWA MP7 Gen 2 and have to say that it was great. i was hesitant at first to buy this gun because it the 1st gen was shooting hot for cqb. the 2nd gen shoots consistent at 350fps.

Yeah these guns are amazing. Those of you who have grabbed the Gen 1 and are worried about your CQB regulations, RATech has released an NPAS system for it.
