Grand. Apparently it needed simplifying.
I would be more afraid of getting shot by turning away from the guy with the gun, it would be better to get hurt or die resisting than get shot in the back. Plus the dude with the gun was just opening himself to be disarmed, why would you be walking up on a guy and getting in his face like you need to be that close to hit him, he was just asking the other guy to try and take the gun from him. I guess being that close was the only way he would've been able to shoot the guy accurately the way he was holding the gun. They really have no brains those guys, it's an infinite continuation of idiots teaching other kids when they're young to grow up and be like them.
Ok, well if you've ever felt the fear of having a real gun pointed at you or really having your life threatened, you'd know that its a lot different than just watching a video commenting on what you would have done... I'm sorry, but when the sympathetic nervous system kicks in and you debate fight or flight, 9/10 times you will choose flight unless you are truly stupid or have no fear of death, which barely anyone has, I don't care how big you think your dick is. I'm sorry, you play airsoft. Unless you're a trained soldier/ law enforcement officer, you are not trained to deal with a situation like this, I'm sorry. No one says you have to run away screaming, just back away slowly and avoid conflict. Risking your life is stupid and if you think some mexican thug is worth it, again you probably have not been in a seriously life threatening situation to contemplate death in a serious manner.

Now I'm not saying that you're not right to think that fighting is better than fleeing, I'm just saying that the situation is a lot different when its actually you in the situation. Quite honestly, I'd like to be able to say that I could just stare the hispanic guy in the eye and not move at all, which would probably work, but when a real gun is involved, it just gets a lot crazier.

My guess is that the skateboard dude might have known the hispanic guy, so he didn't just back down immediately. It seemed like he was like "whoa wtf are you doing with that" instead of "shit i'm gonna leave."

I too am familiar with this kind of thing, but I know some of these people from when they were just kids. They all started out as nice kids but just went down a different path. Yeah if someone I knew from before pointed a gun at me like that I'd expect that they wouldn't use it on me, so I'd be slightly less intimidated, but if some random mexican thug came out of nowhere pointing a revolver at my eye, I'd be pretty F*ckin scared. Commenting on what Thumper93901 said, their parents are usually nice people, but are usually powerless to stop their children from going down the gang path because of socio-economic status.

Edit: After reviewing what Geist was trying to say, I agree, the skateboard kid has balls, he deserves a medal and a steak dinner followed by a lot of beer. He did a lot better than some of us would, myself included.

That being said, this thread is 4 months old...
Pretty much sums it up lazyshark, but some people just think they are rambo and pro skillz and will "OWN" the guy with a dragon kick or some shit they learned on tv. Best thing to do is just walk away and avoid anyone getting hurt. The tough guy mentality is a joke and is probably making up for something missing. I dont think that mexican is worth getting shot over. We dont know the whole story from the vid so we cant make any proper judgements.
I never said I would attempt to disarm or fight him, just that I'd be affraid to turn my back on him. "Affraid" being the operative word.

That being said, I am adult, and have been in situations similar to it with mixed results.

"that mexican"

Read over your statements and you may find what might be "missing" from you.
Agreed back turned is not a great idea. From a psychological standpoint it's a lot harder to shoot someone staring you in the eye than someone with their back turned.

fyi. aFraid.
My comments were not aimed at you Geist. Personally, i think it would be harder to shoot a man in the back, because thats just low. But, have my opinions and you have yours, live with it. I just noticed my mistake by calling him mexican, no mean to be racist or anything, all my hispanic friends in cali were mexican so i assumed he was mexican.
Be it foolish or brave, I enjoyed watching it. My intention was to share that with you guys.
I enjoyed it too. I also enjoyed the conversation it sparked. Thanks.
