Hey guys, I just picked up a WA SV Championship, compliments of Jerry! Thanks again!

Anyways, I have experience with TM Hi Capa builds, but NEVER have I owned a WA and Jerry talked me into one, so I am EXTREMELY unfamiliar with what is available for upgrading on this gun.

This is going to be my primary open gun. I have already placed an order for a reinforced Part #8 (thank you Jerry!) but what would be a good starting point for upgrades? If this question is very vague, I apologize, but most forums do not talk about upgrading WAs for practical shooting and this whole Magna, SCW, SCW2, SCW3 talk is confusing since I do not know the differences between each one! The only companies I know of that make parts for WA are:

SD, Prime, PGC, Guarder, CP Custom, Sheriff, ProG4, PDI....and thats all I know. Most of the distributors are sold out as well!

Any comments or suggestions would really be appreciated!

P.S. Does SD's reputation for quality in the TM products still apply to their WA products?
Mostly the difference between magna and SCW 1-3 is the hammer system. There's a ton of information around here on this sight as well as on Airsoft-Barracks about Western Arms pistols, so if you want to read up on Western Arms, look around.
Prog4 has most of the upgrades you'll ever want, aside from cosmetic parts. I recently also made the switch from TM to WA and I have to say I am a lot more impressed with WA. I think the quality of parts made for WA is just as good as the ones made for TM. In fact, I believe, the TM recently took over the aftermarket pistol parts market, which was dominated previously by magnas.
yeah, ive noticed that about some distributors, alot of them re-stock up on TM parts from SD, PDI, etc. but not the WA parts because I noticed ALOT of people are converting to TMs
ask prog4, the one peice comp will be SD, their product is good

other than the slide and the comp combo, everything else on the championship will be prog4 because their product is top notch

the loading nozzle can be either PGC or guarder, those are good, SD one is not

Sheriff parts are long gone, so don't bother

Cp custom=prog4=cl steel (listed on redwolf's website)

SCW 1, no good, little firing pin hold by a very small spring

SCW 2, best 1 out of 3, very strong kick

SCW 3, the most realist one, but cost more to upgrade

SCW ver 1 and 2 share almost everything except the hammer, firing pin

SCW ver 2 and 3 share some parts, but the leaf spring, disconnector and the sear is different

Since u have the magna, u only need get parts from Pr0g4, guarder or SD
here's some background on WA's:

WA's magna system revolutionized the GBB market. Their guns dominated over all other GBB systems up until WA changed to the SCW system.

WA felt the need to revamp their system(after 10+ yrs of the same Magna system) so they could market new gun, new parts, new licensing agreements with 3rd party manufacturers, etc..

really stupid decision...they should've never tinkered with their system because plain and simple..it worked! and it worked really GOOD!

if you think about it. . .there's only one magna...but there's 3 SCWs. . .and they STILL have not gotten it right!!!

TM recognized WA was slacking and jumped in to get more of the market share..at the right time. . .now, TMs have taken over the market. WA lost alot of customers to TM because of WA's shitty SCW system

WA lost PGC's aftermarket support..PGC took TM aboard and let Prime take care of the WA support.

I don't know if WA can ever take the GBB pistol market back.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

With that said. . .you've invested into a really nice gun so good choice. Save some money up..invest in the right parts and you'll have a very reliable gbb that will live up to its reputation.

I've been into Magnas since MGC adopted their system..tried others but will always favor the WA Magna system.

Seriously...when TM 1911s first came out..I obtained a very upgraded full metal PGC TM Springfield 1911...the first time I shot it... I laughed...that laughter turned to disgust..I ended up selling it in less than a week that I owned it. There's no comparison between TM & WA 1911s/hicaps.

(however accuracy is probably better in TMs than WAs-stock form)
well, SCW v2 is the best of the 3 SCW series, so if you are a collector, that's the best one

I am trying bring the old manga back, so need to contract ppl in HK to build me slide/frame sets for a good price

stay tuned...

but seriously, TM 1911 blow-back is so lame and can't even hold enough gas, sad...
Yeah and the difficulties of getting basic WA parts is not making the game any more fun for newbie WA users Aiwebs_003
I'm not gonna knock WA. I'm mainly a TM guy, and I'd like to play with/build a WA Magna R-type but I'm a little worried.....
Actually it's funny that The Cleaner said "I obtained a very upgraded full metal PGC TM Springfield 1911...the first time I shot it... I laughed...that laughter turned to disgust."
Well, I had the same Opposite experience. I had been building TM Hi-Capas and got to shoot a very well built and nice looking WA Magna SVI and was quite disappointed with all the hype.
It sounded whimpy and kicked like a butterfly.....LOL - ok it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't much compared to my TM Hi-Capas.
I have shot other WA versions and they all seemed about the same.
I really would like to see if I could build a nice Magna R-type. But finding one for cheap and finding parts is like pulling teeth.
well the prog4 wa parts and the tm parts are almost the same price

anyways, save up for a proper WA magna 4th, then u will see the light
Yeah, until you break a hop up piece and rendering a 400 dollar custom gun into an expensive paper weight... whatever you do, don't break your hop up!
