53chevy - Hop-Up was created specifically to increase RANGE in airsoft guns. The downside of Hop-Up is that is decreases accuracy significantly.

For target shooting, or simply gaining better accuracy at shorter distances, it is much more advantageous to not have Hop-Up at all.

What would be considered "ranged" shot in airsoft though?

That depends on the gun's setup...barrel length, power, BB weight, etc.

I wonder the accuracy of a non-hop-up Hi-capa, might be good, or it might be bad, but marui's strong point is their hop-up system

I am quite happy to see this since I think that a no hop option could be quite effective.

I do wonder whether this can be adapted to other barrels though. I really want a no hop PDI 6.01 to maximize my total accuracy.

OK...who's gonna get one and test it so that we all then can get one too?

Note: the "chamber" is in reference to the hop-up rubber - not the TM hop up metal chamber.

I am interested, mainly just because it's something new for me to play with and test

I'm really wondering why the front of the barrel has those notches cut out in it.

I'm relatively certain that the barrel will NOT have the U cut out for the hop up as all the rest of the inner barrels do...it will be straight cut with a bevel.

TM's Hop-Up is a good system and I don't have any real problems with it, but there are some things that make me curious.

The hopup bar that pulls down on the bb, pulls down and to the left.
Which may or may not affect bb's trajectory, but I don't like the possibility of this ill effect.
Affects on trajectory and consistency makes me wonder if "fliers" are caused by the hop-up or inconsistent bb's.
Eliminating hop up will (hopefully) help me find more accurate and consistent bbs.

Hop up "OFF" doesn't provide sufficient seal for power and also causes bbs to roll out of the barrel (especially with 150% springs - the slide returns to battery with such force that the loading nozzle pushes the bb past the "holding groove" in the hopup rubber and the bb will roll out)

Have you ever set the little hop up wheel, sighted your gun, then come to find out after a 100 rounds or so, your point of impact has changed? Then you find that the hop up wheel has changed positions. The hop up adjustment can move a lot on it's own.
...and, if hop up is eliminated, I won't need to worry about disassembling my gun to adjust it and then have to re-sight.

NineBall's ideas for all these new components have been taken from Japanese Airsoft Practical shooting. There are many Japanese that have already made these modifications on their own. NineBall is just implementing thier ideas to consumer production.
